On playing guitar

The thing about learning to play the guitar for the joy of playing music is that the ego boost we all crave flows on naturally. I have always included craving for adulation and kinky sex as legitimate elements of wanting to be a guitar player but we need to put the ego needs on hold for a while in order to learn how to play. Getting famous really quickly does not mesh with slowing down and allowing your body to absorb guitar technique. But after spending time away from posturing like a guitar god, you find you ARE a guitar god. Well, at least you have a direction as a guitarist. This post from the Guitar Lifestyle blog gives some insight into the difference between wanting to play guitar and wanting to be a guitar player.
