There is a continuous stream of flamenco guitarists coming up through the ranks. Names like Paco Pena, Vicente Amigo, Oscar Herrero and Tomatito are names to look for in music stores and on YouTube.

These are all good quality guitars that will last you through your initial stage as a beginner guitar player plus a few years neglected under the bed. Even though you can buy good guitars online, they could suffer from being shipped from one country to another, plus buying from a store or through local classifieds means you can see what you are buying.

The nineteen-seventies also noted the music of two other youthful flamenco guitar virtuosos – Manolo Sanlucar and Serranito. Serranito’s technique led him to record music that was possibly a little too complicated for the tastes of a number of flamenco guitar afficianados and Paco De Lucia’s style, one way or another, attracted more acclaim than Manolo Sanlucar.
