Name that guitar chord

Filed under: Free Stuff - 21 Sep 2007

This is the kind of place you can waste all day on! Make up your own chords, and see if they have names. If this tool doesn’t get you over those funny chord names, nothing will!
“Superstrings” Chord Name Finder
Find the name of any chord! Just move your mouse over a fret position on the guitar fretboard and click on it to include the note in the chord. If you click on the same string but different place it will change it. If you click on a note already in place… it will remove it. Any number of combinations is possible up until it becomes
an actually impossible chord. (seven different notes?)
Whatever displays as the shortest name is usually (not necessarily) the best option to use, unless it says “11th” or “13th” somewhere in the display, then that is probably the chord in question and it’s showing you what notes are also included n the chord … the rest of the chord names shown are the program forcing a chord name out of every single note that was picked in the chord. This program will tell you exactly what’s in the chord, if’s and’s and but’s.

Van Halen Guitar Tapping Technique
In support of his large variety of two-handed tapping techniques, Van Halen also holds a patent for a flip-out support device which attaches to the rear of the electric guitar. This device enables the user to play the guitar in a manner similar to the piano by orienting the face of the guitar upward instead of forward.
