Learning popular riffs and licks

Filed under: Guitar Lesson Reviews - 17 Jul 2008

It’s been many a long month since I reviewed a guitar lesson course so I thought I’d mention one that is really unique. www.guitarrx.com showcases a unique See-it, Hear-it, Play-it learning approach. There are many guitar courses and lessons available on the internet, but none combine this play-along approach with real guitar audio. Most use the tinny, keyboard sounding midi format. There are lots of good courses and lessons available, but how many times can you practice a fingering exercise, play a scale, or study music theory before you get bored with it? Guitarrx is based on learning best when we enjoy what we are doing. This web site currently features many individual guitar songs, leads, and riffs. While predominantly rock and blues guitar, the company is adding new music regularly to the site including country, heavy metal, fusion, new age, and gospel.

Here’s a video from that weird guy at
Next Level Guitar

I haven’t seen any negative feedback for this course at all. Here’s a typical testimonial:
ā€œI just want to say that what you guys are doing is really really cool.. and so much appreciated by what must be 1,000’s of home spun guitar players like me. (40 years of playin and still learnin). I’m not sure you understand yet just how well you have pin pointed a need out here in little people land…but you have. If you keep on this track you’re destined to make it big time… please just don’t start charging too much too soon…I want to contribute to your development as much as I can and will look for ways that I can send you constructive feedback… I stumbled onto you at YouTube… and immediately liked what I saw…Keep up the good work.. don’t ever get discouraged and god bless… And please, please, don’t change your format and start on some new track…you’re on exactly the right track… with a mix of the old tunes and theeasy tunes and the the great tunes and the not so great tunes… and the brand new tunes… you’ve struck an excellent mix… don’t change! And don’t be too concerned with making each video more and more slick… WE LOVE IT AND GET THE MOST OUT OF IT JUST THE WAY IT IS!… Is each tiny thing perfect?… NO… and that’s what speaks to all of us…Anyhoo… that’s what I wanted to say for now… Good Luck and Thanks again!ā€
