Guitar Improvising Tips

If you are familiar with music theory and know where the notes are on the fretboard, you will be able to improvise using scales.
It wouldn’t sound too good if you only played random notes from a scale, but if you know what you want to express you can use the root note of the song to start and finish improvised passages.

You can use your notes to make up a tune over the chords of the song. Maybe forget all about impressing your audience with your fast playing, concentrate on doing justice to your improvised melody and use the length of your notes and the silences between, together with your bends, vibrato and whatever else you have in your techniques.
