How far can books take me in learning to play guitar?

Posted on | | 1 Comment

Here is a short excerpt from an essay on learning guitar from books from Guitar Books
“If you want to learn about the history of the guitar, a book will give it to you. Books can show you where to put your fingers in order to execute a clawhammer picking pattern or play a pentatonic scale. But a book won’t encourage you to practice. I promise.
Guitar books contain information on learning the guitar. This information will never fall out of the book or be wiped out by a power surge. As long as you have your guitar book you will be able to refresh your knowledge of musical theory, find technical exercises, or learn the chords and lyrics to a song.”
