The guitar capo raises the key you are playing in. The capo is often employed by guitar players accompanying singers. Rather than learn new chords or battle with barre chords, you just put a capo on your guitar and you can play along with any singer.
Flamenco guitarists used to use the capo give a brighter tone to their playing. It’s also easier to play with the capo at the third or fifth fret. Some flamenco players always used the capo. Now there is more flamenco music played at the natural pitch.
Usually capos are used on acoustic guitars and very rarely on electrics.
