Scales are a pain to learn to play for some people. They are really not that difficult but if you can’t integrate scales into your own personal love of guitar playing, you might find yourself wondering how to approach them. The basic aim is to learn how to play guitar scales without having to think about it. There are a few ways to start, for instance you could begin with the pentatonic scales or the blues scale.
Another way to learn scales is to simply go to a resource like all-guitar-chords.com, pick a scale and practice it till you are blue in the face and go back and get another one. This leaves you with the burden of finding how to fit these scales into your plan for yourself as a guitar player.

Great lesson. I find that the CAGED method of seeing the guitar fretboard helps a great deal as well.
